I started The Hook Boston back in 2015, been talking Boston sports since 2012.
It’s impossible to ignore this story. I know we talk about AB a lot on Couch Coaches (new episode out on Spotify and iTunes). Shameless plug. But this is really a whole new level of selfish. We’ve seen so many wide receivers act entitled and it’s nothing new. But these incidents keep piling up for Antonio Brown.
The exchange first started when Antonio Brown came at Maylock. He called him a cracker and was really getting heated at him for the fine.
“[Mayock] was like, ‘I’m cool, I understand your displeasure,'” the source said. “[Mayock] sort of just like … just walked away because he saw it escalate.”
Brown hasn’t done anything super high on the scale of “wrong.” He hasn’t been involved with anything criminally, hurt anyone or done anything wrong with the law. He’s just piling up a ton of selfish mishaps. A reminder of his journey here in the last year or so: missed a Steelers must win game to get into the playoffs voluntarily, talked a ton of trash on his way out, demanded a ridiculous contract, frost bit his feet in a cryo chamber for not wearing proper equipment, fined from the Raiders for missing practice, talked shit on social media about it, now this.
Individually, each incident isn’t that bad but he just doesn’t care anymore. This isn’t someone that wants to play football. If you’re not willing to do the small things, you’re really not willing to be there.
