Gritty Punched A KID

Gritty Punched a KID

Inquirer – Chris Greenwell brought his boy Brandon to the Wells Fargo Center one night in November to meet the most famous person on the Philadelphia Flyers payroll: Gritty.

Gritty punched Brandon in the back, Greenwell claims. In Greenwell’s telling, Brandon playfully patted the mascot on the head after the photo was taken. As Brandon walked away, Gritty got out of his chair, “took a running start,” and “punched my son as hard as he could,” Greenwell said Wednesday…

Kind of doubt this story to have that much substance. I don’t know the man behind the Gritty costume but I’m getting a Charlie from Always Sunny type vibe. I’m judging solely on the way he moves on the ice. The body language. The vibes he’s giving out. This mascot doesn’t have it in him to throw some haymakers at an underdeveloped human 12 years of age.

What’s the life of a mascot actually like? I’ve wondered this a few times. Is it their only job to show up and shake it for the fans? Or are they a linecook on off days? Regardless the schedule, I think we know meth is involved. Can’t bring that kind of “animal” like energy without a hit of that ice.
